With the trails closer to town become busier and more popular the Brazeau is a wonderful option for those who want to experience the true backcountry that Jasper National Park is famous for. Whatever version of this hike you pick, you will be going over alpine passes and through sweet smelling pine forests. We are usually permitted campfires at most of the sites on this trail unlike the more popular Skyline and Tonquin which is a nice treat at the end of the day.

3 Days 54km/33.5miles

This is a challenging route with long days. We see the highlights of the Brazeau trail including Jonas Pass and Nigel Pass, this is a good option for people with only a little time that are up for a challenge

4 Days 45km/33.5 miles + optional side trips

A modification of the classic Brazeau Loop this hike starts at Sunwapta warden station outside of Jasper and covers the main highlights on the beautiful and remote hike. Day one is 12km long and takes us to beautiful Waterfalls Campsite where we will spend the night with a campfire. The second day is a short one of only 9.2km but after we are at camp and set up there is the option to head up Pobokton Pass before returning to camp for Supper.

The Third Day is the long one at 19km heading up and over the Jonas Shoulder and Jonas Pass. Most of the day is in the alpine until we descend to Four Point Campground to spend our last night before making our way the last 14km over Nigel Pass to the Nigel Creek Trail head where our van will be waiting to take us back to Jasper.

5 Days 80km/49miles

This is the full adventure!

We will be out in the backcountry for five days, giving guests plenty of time to connect with nature and with themselves. This hike has all sorts of landscapes from sweet smelling pine forests to alpine passes to a glacial lake. This hike is quieter than other hikes we guide and we definitely see less people out there. Three of the four nights we are able to have campfires and all of the campsites we stay at have spectacular scenery. We will see views of glaciers, rivers, alpine meadows and The Beautiful Brazeau Lake and possibly some wildlife too. Brazeau Lake is fed by glaciers and has the stunning turquoise colour that glacial lakes are renowned for. The lake keeps very cool, so after a day’s hiking you can take a quick dip in four degree water! (Or maybe just soak your feet!)

All guests must sign a waiver before joining us. To view a copy of the waiver
